Formed in 1968 as Wimborne Youth Club FC the club started playing in Dorset League Division 4 East B Supplementary achieving promotion to Division 4 East B in 1971! At that time with players reaching the grand old age of 20 the club became Wimborne Youth Club Old Boys. The club achieved gradual promotions reaching the dizzying heights of Division One in the late seventies where the best finish was 3rd in 1980 whilst also losing to Blandford in the semi final of the Dorset Senior Cup.

The original players who had been the bedrock of the club now began to retire causing a rather rapid decline in league status finding the first team back in Division 3 East in 1986. Throughout this whole period the club had benefited from the leadership and enthusiasm of Ken Richmond and the quiet unfaltering support of Rod Pope.  With the club near to folding Eric Case one of the founder members, returned to become Chairman in 1986 and began to rebuild the club, particularly the non-playing side. An attachment to the Allendale Community Centre in 1987 brought about another name change. In 1989 Alan Elliott, an ex player rejoined the club and soon took over the 1st team; rapid promotions followed. Maintaining the emphasis on youth and open, attacking football the club rose to Division 1 in 1992, winning the competition in the following two seasons by a sizeable margin. Three teams were being fielded with fierce competition for places. During these heady years the 3 teams also won the Dorset Senior League Cup, Bankes Charity Senior Cup, Dorset Division 3 North, Dorset Division 4 North, Divisions 3 and 4 League Cups and were regularly providing players to County Youth, Intermediate and Senior teams.

Admission to the Dorset Combination League was achieved in 1995 and although no honours were won at this level the club became renowned for the quality of its attacking football and the continuous introduction of exciting young local players. Sadly, following rule changes on ground facilities, Allendale FC was forced to withdraw from the league in 2002.

Allendale FC has rejoined Dorset Leagues from the 2016/2017 Season.

Throughout its history Allendale has played at Redcotts Recreation Ground
